چکیده
We introduce a generalized isospectral problem for global conservative multi-peakon solutions of the Camassa–Holm equation. Utilizing the solution of the indefinite moment problem given by M. G. Krein and H. Langer, we show that the conservative Camassa–Holm equation is integrable by the inverse spectral transform in the multi-peakon case.

Multi-peakon solutions of the Degasperis–Procesi equation
We present an inverse scattering approach for computing n-peakon solutions of the Degasperis–Procesi equation (a modification of the Camassa– Holm (CH) shallow water equation). The associated non-self-adjoint spectral problem is shown to be amenable to analysis using the isospectral deformations induced from the n-peakon solution, and the inverse problem is solved by a method generalizing the c...
متن کاملThe string density problem and the Camassa-Holm equation.
Recently, the string density problem, considered in the pioneering work of M. G. Kreĭn, has arisen naturally in connection with the Camassa-Holm equation for shallow water waves. In this paper we review the forward and inverse string density problems, with some numerical examples, and relate it to the Camassa-Holm equation, with special reference to multi-peakon/anti-peakon solutions. Under str...
متن کاملAn Optimal Transportation Metric for Solutions of the Camassa-Holm Equation
In this paper we construct a global, continuous flow of solutions to the Camassa-Holm equation on the entire space H. Our solutions are conservative, in the sense that the total energy ∫ (u + ux) dx remains a.e. constant in time. Our new approach is based on a distance functional J(u, v), defined in terms of an optimal transportation problem, which satisfies d dtJ(u(t), v(t)) ≤ κ · J(u(t), v(t)...
متن کاملPeakon-Antipeakon Interaction
Explicit formulas are given for the multi-peakon-antipeakon solutions of the Camassa– Holm equation, and a detailed analysis is made of both short-term and long-term aspects of the interaction between a single peakon and single anti-peakon. The strongly nonlinear equation ( 1 − 1 4 D ) ut = 3 2 ( u ) x − 1 8 ( u2x ) x − 1 4 (uuxx)x, (1) introduced by Camassa and Holm [5] as a possible model for...
متن کاملElastic collisions among peakon solutions for the Camassa–Holm equation
The purpose of this paper is to study the dynamics of the interaction among a special class of solutions of the one-dimensional Camassa-Holm equation. The equation yields soliton solutions whose identity is preserved through nonlinear interactions. These solutions are characterized by a discontinuity at the peak in the wave shape and are thus called peakon solutions. We apply a particle method ...
